6/3/2021 (Permalink)

take care of your pets during storms or evacuations in Broomfield and Westminster Bring your pets with you when you have to evacuate your home

If storms or other disasters force evacuation from Westminster, the evacuation will be easier if we know that pets and large animals will be safe as well. SERVPRO® of Broomfield/Arvada is sharing these tips from the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA).

Before Westminster Requires Evacuation:

  • Plan for vehicles to evacuate large animals
  • Consider microchips for all animals, large and small
  • Make sure that the information on tags is correct, and securely attached to a collar or harness
  • Arrange for shelter, food, and water for large animals that cannot be moved to safer places
  • In case of separation, have a photo of yourself and your pets and other animals
  • Identify pet-friendly shelters and motels
  • Each pet will need a leash or harness and/or a carrier
  • Keep a copy of each pet's required medications (including prescriptions) or special needs
  • Contact information for veterinarian

Pet Emergency Kits:

  • 3-day supply of water and food for each pet
  • First-aid kit
  • Favorite toys and blankets
  • Whatever you find keeps your pets happy
  • Extra treats
  • Medicine as needed
  • Extra litter and litter box
  • Waste bags

SERVPRO of Broomfield/Arvada has found that Ready.gov is a great resource.

We hope you and your animals stay safe. If water damage or storm damage do strike, call us. We're available all day, every day, and will restore your home “Like it never even happened.”
