What to do when temperatures drop

As temperatures continue to drop the likelihood of water damage in your home or office occurring due to a frozen pipe rises.  

To Prevent Frozen Pipes

  • Add caps to outdoor faucets
  • Add additional insulation to water pipes on exterior walls
  • Keep cabinet and cupboard doors open on exterior walls to help warm air circulate around pipes

In the case of frozen pipes

  • Keep the faucet dripping
  • Apply heat to the affected section of pipe with a heating pad or hairdryer
  • Apply heat until full water pressure is restored
  • If you still have trouble, call a licensed plumber.
